Who needs a Mummy MOT®?

All women who’ve given birth! It’s recommended that mums have an initial check-up 6 weeks post-delivery, however it is still possible to treat women who have had babies’ many years ago, women who maybe did not realise they have a tummy gap (diastasis recti) that may be preventing them from regaining their core strength.

If you consider the changes a woman’s body goes through during pregnancy and birth – postural changes, muscle imbalances and altered alignment can occur and persist. It is essential to correct and rebalance the body, otherwise pain, prolapse, urinary incontinence or diastasis recti may occur, persist and, if left untreated, can affect women’s ability to carry out normal daily functional activities and affect her health and quality of life.

Nearly half of all women’s bodies do not recover without intervention

Why is the Mummy MOT® important?

Firstly, leaking urine when you cough, laugh or sneeze, is unpleasant and embarrassing for women. Diastasis recti (separation of abdominal muscles) can leave you with a unrelenting mummy tummy, weak core and back pain and pelvic pain is debilitating and can cause issues with sex, which can affect a woman’s relationship and marriage.

So many women think its normal to have problems after you’ve have a baby and assume it is the new state of motherhood because no one talks about it. These issues are not the price of motherhood! Why shouldn’t women be able to do a star jump, have an active life and do exercise without worrying? It’s so important that women take care of themselves and their bodies after the birth of their children, the Mummy MOT® helps mums make their health a priority- for once!

How successful is it?

The most amazing thing is that most of these debilitating conditions can be treated effectively, and can be improved or alleviated entirely by establishing the needs of each woman, it’s about receiving the right knowledge, getting the right treatment and doing the right exercises that will help you on the path to recovery.
