Train like a pro
Join us as a Registered Athlete for professional-level care in the community. Let us take your sports performance as seriously as you do.
At MacFarlane Physiotherapy, we believe that every athlete – whether elite, competitive, or recreational—deserves access to the same high standards of care and performance support as professionals. That’s why we’ve created the Performance+ Athlete Program, a structured and data-driven service designed to elevate your training, reduce injury risk, and help you achieve your physical goals with confidence.
When you join the program, you become a Registered Athlete with us—someone we’re committed to supporting throughout your sporting journey. It all begins with a comprehensive 90-minute baseline assessment tailored to your sport or activities.
Performance baseline
One of the most valuable aspects of this programme is the creation of a performance baseline. If you suffer an injury in future, we’ll be able to compare your post-injury state to your original data—helping us make safer, faster decisions about your recovery and return to sport. It’s peace of mind for anyone who takes their training seriously.
As a Registered Athlete, you’ll also benefit from priority access to physiotherapy, massage, and recovery services when needed. And because our team includes Craig Maitland, former Head Physio at Hearts FC, you’ll be working with someone who knows what it takes to support athletes at the highest level.
The Performance+ Athlete Program is ideal for runners, cyclists, triathletes, gym-goers, team sport athletes, and anyone committed to long-term performance and injury prevention. This is your opportunity to train with intention, recover with precision, and perform with confidence—under the guidance of a team who understands what it takes to succeed.

Comprehensive 90-Minute Baseline Assessment
This in-depth session is far more than a typical physio appointment. It includes a full musculoskeletal screening tailored to your sport or activity, examining:
- Injury history and relevant medical background
- Range of motion across key joints
- Strength testing using advanced Kinvent dynamometry
- Gait and movement analysis using Run3D motion capture technology
- Balance and postural control assessment
This gives you a data-driven profile of your current physical condition - a solid foundation to build your performance on, and a vital benchmark for recovery if you’re ever injured.
Quarterly Re-Assessments to Track Progress
Every 12 weeks, you’ll receive a structured review of your progress:
- Re-test key metrics from your baseline assessment
- Measure improvements in strength, control, and mobility
- Identify new areas of focus or risk
- Adjust your training and rehab plan accordingly
This ensures you stay on track, accountable, and continually improving – with expert guidance.
Tailored Strength & Conditioning Plan
Your programme isn’t generic - it’s built around your specific needs, goals, and performance targets. Whether you’re aiming to return to sport, improve endurance, or prevent recurring injuries, we develop a plan that:
- Focuses on your weaknesses and asymmetries
- Includes evidence-based progressions
- Integrates easily into your weekly schedule
Is updated every 3 months based on your reassessments and goals
